A day late, and a baby short...

Life at The Burrow has been hurtling along at break-neck speed this summer. The living room renovation project that started last summer finally ended a couple of months ago. (We still have to paint the trim and touch up the paint in a few spots on the walls...and install the woodstove.) But that is small potatoes. Nate and Paul spent June and July "flipping" the house. What used to be the living room is now our bedroom. And what used to be the dining room is now...drumroll...a nursery!

We were expecting Evan Graham yesterday, although, truth-be-told, he is taking after my side of the family and seems to be planning to arrive on Bouffard time. Which means, just as soon as he can get to it. (Just what is taking you so long, anyway????)

Another change in the make-up of our little family is Katahdin. Sadly, Archimedes was hit by a car on New Year's Eve. Despite the drifts of dog hair he left all over the house, we missed having his company. It wasn't long before we found Katahdin...a VERY energetic Border Collie/Bull Terrier mix. He is fun, but challenging. We found out at the beginning of the summer that he had contracted heart worm while living down south (before we adopted him). So he has spent the entire summer on a leash, in the house, or in his crate during an intensive drug-therapy treatment to get rid of the heartworm. Needless to say, it is driving both him and us crazy!

But the end of the treatment is coming this week, as well as the baby (did you hear that, baby?). And this will usher in a whole new era at The Burrow. It has been a productive summer inside the house. I redecorated (aka hid as much wood panneling as I could with paint) the dining room and bathroom. We completed the "flip". Now as indoor renovations are slowing, it will be time to get the outside of the house patched back up for the winter. Siding needs to be reinstalled, the driveway side of the house needs trim paint. The yard has been sorely neglected all summer long.

All of these projects hing, of course, on the baby. When will he come? What will he be like? Will there be any complications that determine the house schedule? It all remains to be seen. In the mean time, hurry up Evan.
